Workshop on Spoken Tutorial - Making India IT Literate

UPTU Noida Campus organized a Workshop on Spoken Tutorial - Making India IT Literate in collaboration with IIT Bombay starting from 21st January, 2015. On 29th January, 2015, Dr. Anupam Kumar, Associate Professor, Dept. of Management Studies, Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida attended the workshop.
Spoken Tutorial Project of IIT Bombay is the brainchild of Prof. Karan Mudgalya nurtured by National Mission on Education Through ICT (NMETICT), MHRD, Govt. of India. The objective of the workshop was to train the faculty coordinators of UPTU affiliated colleges to roll out the Spoken Tutorial for the optimum benefit of this IIT Bombay initiative.
Ms. Neha Srivastava, Training Coordinator, Spoken Tutorial, IIT Bombay, opened the session at 11:00 AM with the welcome speech and introducing the agenda of the workshop. She said that UPTU is the 63rd University to have an MoU with IIT Bombay. She also said that more than 6 lac learners have been benefited till now. She focused on the utility of Free and Open Source Software (FOSS) like LIBREOFFICE, PYTHON, LINUX, RUBY, PERL, JAVA Net Beans etc. She clarified that there is no issue of copyright downloading the Spoken Tutorial material. She said that there are three levels of material of software; Basic, Intermediate and Advanced. She informed that UP, though a vast state, has only 27,000 participants of Spoken Tutorial whereas Gujrat has 1.3 Lac participants. She justified the use of Spoken Tutorial saying that one can learn from YouTube also but cannot get a certificate.
Ms. Neha performed demo of how to download the material from the site. She made the participants familiar with the process of workshop and test to be conducted at their respective colleges.
Dr. Anupam Kumar was called upon to share his experience as a Coordinator of Spoken Tutorial at Dronacharya Group of Institutions, Greater Noida. He explained the practical aspects of inspiring and getting students the certification courses online.
The workshop came to an end with the question answer session followed by filling up of feedback forms.
